It All Starts With My Mother

My mother has always had a massive influence on me. Her love of family, friends, fashion, beauty, & personal style topped with her inherently elegant demeanor, has inspired me to follow in her footsteps. Growing up, I was so proud to have such a fun, stylish mom, who was constantly expressing her authentic self with confidence and class.

Whether it was through her pre-children career as a makeup artist for Lancome, her interior design projects, going to the fabric store to design her own shams and curtains, designing & sewing my Halloween costumes, gifting our neighbor a head-to-toe makeover, becoming a personal shopper for friends, experimenting with kitchen paint colors (not to mention a bright pink front door), Vee did it all. All while never failing to leave the house without lipstick + a cute outfit to match. She consistently showed up in life not only in style, but authentically.

Blogging Begins

Her outfits became so well known that her nickname quickly became VeeFab (short for fabulous). In 2010, she started her own fashion and lifestyle blog, gaining a lot of traction, and connecting with women all over the world. I got a first hand look at the brains and beauty behind the operation as her photographer until I left for college in 2012. By 2014, the blog became hard to maintain as quite a large and disrupting life diagnosis got in the way.

She lived with and battled Parkinson’s Disease gracefully until it took her from us on July 31st 2023. While this loss has been too devastating for me to be able to find the words, knowing I’m not alone in my grief gives me solace. She has had a lasting impact on the widespread community of friends she built throughout her life. And I know for a fact, her spirit lives on through me and our family. I feel her joyful spirit all the time.

I’ve found that personal style is not only a creative and stress relieving activity for me, but also a lasting and transcendent connection to her. It’s my grief outlet. So it is with this business & blog that I hope to connect with and inspire many women, just as she has.

SerenaStanton, Why We Are Here

To nail down my particular “style personality” would be difficult. Most of the time I’m all about the neutrals, classic looks with modern touches. Yet in the summer, I find myself gravitating towards colors, which allows me to be a bit more playful! In college I leaned more towards boho, in high school I was as preppy as it gets. Now, I aim for sleek, chic, playful, intuitive, sometimes very girly and other times, simple & masculine.

That’s the beauty of personal style. It evolves, as you evolve. You can create your style to be a reflection of the beautiful, unique you!

My mission is to spread my mom’s legacy and help you shown up in life not only in style, but authentically as your unique self. Personal style is a conduit for your unique creative expression. Getting dressed offers you the opportunity to play and experiment. I want you to feel good in your clothes, leaving you empowered and ready for whatever comes your way.
